We have been serving our customers since 1962, specialising in design and manufacture of automotive filter assemblies, automotive lightings, sheet metal components, plastic components and assemblies thereof. Company History
- 1962 – Establishment of Popular Automobile Industries at Mumbai by Shri P. M. Shah for Head Lamp and Tail Lamp manufacturing for local market.
- 1970 & 1972 – His sons Mr. Jayendra Shah & Mr. Bharat Shah join respectively.
- 1972 - Popular gains OEM Status with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
- 1974 to 1986 - Development & Expansion of Export Business of various automotive lamps to Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Ghana, Sudan, Nigeria, Egypt, Iran & Iraq.
- Since 1972 – Development of various products for M&M Ltd.: Head Lamp Assy., Plough Lamp Assy., Square Lamp Assy., Tail Lamp Assy., P.T.O. Safety Cap, Tractor Hood Assy., Instrument Panel and various complex Sheet Metal Components & Assemblies.
- 1982 – Development of 2-Stage Air Cleaner Assy. under M-Star brand and introduction by M&M in their tractors
- 1988 – Development of metal based Air Cleaner Assy.
- 1990 – Development of 3-Stage Oil Bath Air Cleaner Assy. by introducing paper element in accordance with the higher efficiency requirement
- 1998 – Establishment of Pai Automobiles Pvt. Ltd., Nagpur for expansion of designing, testing and manufacturing facilities
- 2009 – Popular gains OEM status with International Tractors Ltd. (Sonalika) with start of supplies
- 2010 – Popular starts introducing more Sheet Metal components for the spares market including Complete Battery Box Assy. (Multiple Models), Tool Box (Multiple Models), Alternator Brackets (Multiple Models), Brake Link Sets, Flappers, Brackets
- 2014 – Introduction of the third generation with Mr. Soumya Shah joining the company
- 2015 – Development, Testing & Validation of Vertical Dry Type Air Cleaner Assy.
- 2016 – Development of Fan type Air Pre-Cleaner Assy. drastically increasing efficiency
- 2017 – Pai & Popular gain OEM Status with Gromax Agri Equipments Ltd. with start of supplies
- 2018 – Foray into Plastic Moulding with introduction of TOSHIBA make injection moulding machines.
- 2019 – Pai gains OEM Status with Greaves Cotton Ltd. with start of supplies
- 2021 – Pai gains OEM Status with Force Motors Ltd. with start of supplies
- 2021 – All our Air Cleaner Assy. upgraded for BS-IV compliance as per Govt. of India guidelines
